Gowbarrow Circuit – the Ullswater Way

When we last walked the Ullswater Way, we circuited Gowbarrow Fell by way of the Terrace Path on the way to Watermillock. But now having acquired Mark Richards’ excellent guidebook, we became aware that you can go on the other side of Gowbarrow as well – a Panorama Path as well as a Terrace Path.

Some sources are reporting that the Lowther Estates plan for Grasmere has been withdrawn. Watch this space for updates. As I understand it the protest on Feb 1st is going ahead.

I’m horrified at the Lowther Estates plans to commercialise quiet Grasmere with holiday boats. I’m in full support of the protests, and will keep you updated. Ullswater Way to Watermillock

Snatching a rain-free day, we continued with our second circuit of the Ullswater Way. Now you can – if you are fit enough – walk the Ullswater Way in a day, or a weekend. But with arthritic feet I’m very happy to do it in smaller portions, even if it means walking back on ourselves.
